From 7 AM Inspiration to Published Novella: How I Accidentally Wrote a Dark Crime Thriller in 48 Hours

With me, everything happens fast.

While sitting on the steps of the Met at 7 AM waiting for a photoshoot client, I started turning over an idea for my next short story. By 10 AM, I was home and restless. I grabbed my laptop, thought about the premise for about twenty seconds, and immediately knocked out two chapters.

The next day, I practically finished the entire thing. I spent 14 straight hours glued to my screen, and today, I officially published it: an unsettling psychological crime thriller featuring dual POVs and zero spice. For the cover, I used a photo of the Oculus in NYC that I took back in 2021 with my Sony A7R III, added an overlay, designed the typography, and hit publish. It’s only been out for an hour, and two people have already read it.

I originally thought this would just be another quick short story, but it morphed into a novella. I thought it would be a simple crime thriller. How foolish of me. It spiraled into a dark psychological mess that I’m still struggling to wrap my head around. It’s heavy, and honestly, I hate myself a little for that—just once, I’d love to write something breezy and lighthearted. But I guess that’s just not in my DNA.

Still, I couldn't wait to share this milestone with you. I need a brief minute to catch my breath, but I’ll probably dive headfirst into the next project by next week.

Thank you so much for reading and supporting my work!
